Are you an experienced AFIS operator with an interest in drone operations and a dynamic aviation environment?

The job of AFIS operator is wide-ranging and is carried out in a state-of-the-art and newly renovated AFIS tower. The service is performed using the ARTAS radar system.

HCA Airport is much more than traditional aviation and aviation-related activity. HCA Airport is also the base for the UAS Denmark Test Centre, where daily drone flights for drone testing and demonstration take place with both multirotor and fixed-wing drones. This makes up a large part of the activities. In addition, HCA Airport has office space and several companies within the drone industry and aviation.

In 2024, HCA Airport had approximately 7,500 aircraft operations and approximately 6,000 drone operations.

Your tasks 

  • Aerodrome flight information service

  • Emergency response service

  • Weather observation service

  • Maintaining airport records

  • Handling of Handling Requests

  • Administrative tasks

Your working hours will be 37 hours. These hours will be divided into shifts and over all days of the week, including public holidays and occasional evening and night work.

We expect

  • That you hold a valid FIS certificate

  • That you have a valid JAR-FCL Class 2 Medical

  • That you are a trained weather observer

  • That you have good IT skills

  • Fluency in written and spoken Danish and English

  • You can work independently and thrive and contribute in a team

  • You are flexible, positive, service-minded and responsible

  • You are motivated by collaboration and being part of an airport with many different activities

  • You have the ability to communicate constructively, even in pressurised situations

  • You can handle working under time pressure and understand how to get work done during quiet periods

Salary and employment conditions

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement for AFIS operators at municipal airports and aerodromes.

The position is a full-time position with a weekly work schedule and shift rotation with other AFIS colleagues.

The position is with employment from 1 February 2026.

HCA Airport is an international airport with daily activity including private and business flights, as well as weekly charter flights to European destinations during the summer season.

In addition, HCA Airport is the base for UAS Denmark Test Center, Denmark's national drone test centre, and the Danish Defence Drone Centre is established at HCA Airport.

About UAS Denmark Test Centre in brief

UAS Denmark Test Center - one of Europe's leading drone test centres - is the hub for research, education, development, testing and application of drone technology, ensuring optimal benefits for society and businesses.

UAS Denmark Test Centre is a partnership between the University of Southern Denmark, Odense Municipality and HCA Airport and is designated as a national drone test centre. UAS Denmark Test Centre is used by both Danish and international drone companies and the Danish Defence for development, production, testing and training.

Hans Christian Andersen Airport has an administration agreement with Odense Municipality, which means that it is Odense Municipality that practically handles the applications etc. All applicable rules on the handling of personal data and confidentiality are observed in this connection.
