Up-and-coming space company builds new headquarters at HCA Airport

Spaceline is building a brand new headquarters in HCA Airport's business park to support its rapid international growth. The company expects to grow from 15 to 100 employees by the end of 2026.

After several years as a tenant, Odense-based Spaceline is establishing a brand new headquarters of approx. 1000 m2 in the HCA Airports business park.

Combining sensor and camera data from the company's own stratospheric balloons with data from other sources - such as satellites - Spaceline can monitor everything from remote rural areas to critical infrastructure and endangered ecosystems.

Thanks to the use of stratospheric balloons instead of satellites, Spaceline can perform continuous monitoring for longer periods of time and in near real-time - at a significantly lower cost compared to traditional satellite technology.

"The location in HCA Airport's business park is a natural and strategic step for us. The ecosystem around HCA Airport and UAS Denmark brings together some of the most ambitious players in space, drone and defence technology in Denmark. Our new domicile will not just be an administrative headquarters, but a unique centre for development, production and operation of advanced stratospheric and space-based systems, right here in Odense. So for us, it's not just about building square metres, but about investing in an environment where collaboration, innovation and knowledge sharing drive future growth. We are proud to have grown out of this ecosystem and to help shape its future," says CEO Nicolai Iversen from Spaceline.

Has attracted international attention

It's a cocktail that has already attracted international interest, and Spaceline expects to grow from its current 15 employees to 100 employees by the end of 2026. That's why the company has chosen to build its own headquarters to support the growth the company is looking into.

Significant synergies between the drone cluster and aerospace

The Mayor of Odense, Peter Rahbæk Juel, emphasises that Odense and Funen have a strong ecosystem within drones and robots, which is largely based on the world-leading research at the University of Southern Denmark. Spaceline has also emerged from the research environment at the University of Southern Denmark and has a close collaboration with the drone and robot cluster.

"The University of Southern Denmark, together with the robotics and drone cluster, is the gift that keeps on giving - now also in space. I'm pleased that Spaceline is having the success they are having with their technology, which creates a new link between drones and satellites. Their establishment of a new headquarters at HCA Airport means that the ecosystem at the airport is only getting stronger and stronger these days. I expect this ecosystem, and companies like Spaceline, to be a contributor to achieving the goal of 30,000 new private jobs," says Mayor Peter Rahbæk Juel.

"Spaceline's decision to build here is a strong signal. It creates local jobs and shows that Odense and North Funen together have something special to offer - also in a world where safety and advanced technology count more than ever," adds Mayor Mette Landtved-Holm from North Funen Municipality.

Unique setting and collaboration in the ecosystem at HCA Airport

HCA Airport CEO Hans Okholm Vejrup sees Spaceline's decision as proof that the airport, with its drone ecosystem and close collaboration with the Danish Defence, is an attractive environment for companies. Spaceline's headquarters will be located in HCA Airport's new four-hectare business park. The new part of the business park was established in early 2025, and with the lease to Spaceline, it is already fully let

"We are pleased to see how Spaceline has gone from start-up to growth company during their time at HCA Airport, and we look forward to supporting their future endeavours. At the same time, Spaceline's success serves to emphasise that the synergies between the drone and space industries are significant and that the facilities and knowledge we offer here at HCA Airport are also highly applicable to the space industry," says Hans Okholm Vejrup.
